How many people do I need on my team to be scheduled?

Once a team is created, this holds a spot in the given division. Teams must have the minimum number of players by the end of registration for the given sport in order to be scheduled. This number can be found by clicking the sport and league you wish to play in. On the left column where it states 'League Info' will say roster requirements.

If your team does not have that minimum number, your team will be dropped to the waitlist and not scheduled for the regular season.

What is the nomad rule?

A team may add a “nomad” player or players who are not currently rostered on the team to avoid a default/forfeit and play competitively. A team may use nomads when they have less than the required number of participants present at game time.

  1. A team MUST announce nomads to officials, supervisors, and opposing team captains during the pregame meeting
  2. A team may only pick up enough nomads to field a full team not including substitutes
  3. If rostered players arrive after the contest has started, a nomad must leave the game
  4. Team may not use nomads during the playoffs
  5. If a nomad is not currently rostered, they will automatically be added to the team's roster.
  6. Any unsportsmanlike behavior penalties and suspensions will be carried over to the nomad's rostered team.

When is a player locked into a team?

A participant is considered to have played for a team once they have signed-in on a team’s roster at the game site. It is the decision of professional staff if the participant never signed in and played. Once a player is locked into the roster, they may not switch teams.

What is a default?

A default occurs when a team has one less than the required number of participants to start or notifies staff that they cannot attend a scheduled game BEFORE NOON of the game date. If a game occurs on a Sunday, staff must be notified before noon on Friday.

What is a forfeit?

A forfeit exists when a team fails to show up for a scheduled game, has two less players than the minimum players needed for that specific sport, or notifies staff that their team can not attend a game past the noon deadline. This will result in a corresponding fine. This can be paid at the leach front desk. Additional forfeits can occur when a team uses an ineligible player. This will not result in a forfeit fine.

What is the default/forfeit policy?

A team can forfeit or default one time total throughout the course of the regular season. A team will be dropped when they have two defaults, two forfeits, or one default and one forfeit in a season. In addition, a team can be dropped when they request to be dropped. Any of the above combinations will result in only one fine.

What sporting behavior score is needed to reach playoffs?

You need a 3.0 average sporting behavior score during the regular season to advance to the playoffs. Sporting behavior does not reset once the playoffs begin. An average score of 3.0 must be maintained throughout the postseason in order to participate.

How will playoffs be set up?

For major sports (7v7 Flag Football, Indoor Volleyball, 5v5 Basketball, Softball, 7v7 Soccer), teams will participate in a playoff draw. All teams with at least a 3.0 sportsmanship average, regardless of win-loss record, qualify for the playoffs. Days and times for all rounds will be shown on the bracket, therefore teams will be able to select the best option for their squad. There will be 1 minute between teams entering the playoff draw. Teams do not have to select during their 1 minute window but once other teams are in the draw it will be first come, first served when selecting game times.

All playoff draws will begin at 3:00pm. Each team captain (or a team representative) will have the opportunity to select their team’s place in the playoff bracket once their team is up in the selection order. Selection order is based upon overall sportsmanship ratings followed by team record and point differentials.

For minor sports, will NOT have a playoff draw. Instead, teams will most likely have games on the same days as you had in the regular season for the first week. Due to time restraints, some teams may have had their days or times adjusted.

Can games be re-scheduled?

Games that are cancelled during the regular season will NOT be rescheduled.

During the early playoff rounds, a reschedule can be requested if a team participated in their respective playoff draw and contact the IM office at imsports@fsu.edu. During the semi-finals and finals, a reschedule can be requested if one of the following occur only if you participated in the playoff draw (if applicable):

(1) conflict with another IM game

or

(2) conflict with another university activity with at least 4 other team members

In the event of inclement weather, visit fsu.statusfy.com to have any updates on sports for the night.
