Levels of Play

Teams and players are encouraged to choose the level of competition which best suits their interest and skill: Division 1 (Formely Competitive) or Divison 2 (Formerly Recreational).

Division 1 Leagues

For the more experienced or skilled athletes. Division 1 leguaes are compeition oriented and are for those players with previous skill and a desire to compete on a level playing field. Fair Play still rules these leagues.

Please note: If it is deemed a player or team has mistakenly entered the wrong division they will be removed from the program if needed. Moving to a different level will be dependent upon how full the league schedule, or teams are.

Division 2 Leagues

The ultimate goal of these leagues is fun through healthy, active participation. Division 2 leguaes are recreation oriented and are for those players with the desire to play but with less sport specific experience/skill. Beginners are always welcome.

How Often Can I Play?

You may play for only one team in one level per sport (i.e. if you are on a competitive volleyball team, you are not eligible to play on a recreational volleyball team at the same time).

Individual Sign Up (Free Agents)

Individuals without a team are encouraged to find teams through their college Athletic Reps. If you cannot find a team on your own, sign up as a Free Agent and we will help try to place you on a team.

Please note that the Free Agent list does not guarantee a place on a team. It is up to the discretion of team captains to pick up additional players. While we do our best to find you a team, there is no guarantee that all free agents will be picked up.

Free Agent teams will be made if enough Free Agents register to play.

Free Agent Teams

Whenever possible, Free Agents will be grouped into teams by Campus Rec staff. Players will have the option when signing up to pay the Free Agent fee for a place on this team (see current Campus Rec Program Guide for fees). Free Agent teams are subject to cancellation if minimum participant numbers are not met. A full refund will be provided to any Free Agent who has paid for a canceled team. Refunds are not provided once a league has started.

Team Fees and Bonds

- Sport fees and performance bonds are payable at the time of registration. Most performance bonds are $10 per Free Agent or $50 per team (Hockey $150 per team).

- Sport fees are collected to assist in renting, purchasing and maintaining equipment and facilities for Campus Recreation Programs.

- Performance Bonds are returned if the following conditions are met: (1) no defaults (2) no suspensions (3) no harassment of officials or other players (4) no ineligible players (5) no contravention to the fair play policy (6) attendance at the captains’ meeting

- Eligible bonds will be returned at the conclusion of league play.

- Performance bonds are meant to encourage participation and fair play. Our goal is to return 100% of the bonds.

- If a team defaults a game, 50% of the bond will be forfeited. A second default will result in 100% of the bond being forfeited and the team may be removed from the league.

- Your team will lose 50% of the bond if no one attends the captain’s meeting.

- Registration fees will only be returned if notice of withdrawal is given 48 hrs prior to the start of a tournament or league. No refunds will be issued once a league has started.
